Sunday Sept. 19: BBQ & Quilt Auction and Opening Day for the Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze
We Love Camp Fontanelle in the Fall
It’s time for some fall fun out at Camp Fontanelle. While we love the summer months at Camp Fontanelle, the fall brings a different feel. Our fall corn maze and pumpkin patch gives us a chance to shine for the guests who come to spend time with family and friends, wandering through the corn maze, feeding the animals at the barn and taking that ride on our zip line. It is a chance to play laser tag in the maze and purchase the camp’s wonderfully delicious Brownies and Pumpkin Bars.
This year, our theme is “Kingdom Quest”. The corn maze design reflects that theme with the trails outlining a castle, a princess, the knight in shining armor, protecting the princess and the castle, at the drawbridge,. Guests will find the dragon while wondering through the laser tag maze. We are bringing back turkey legs in the concession stand as it fits the theme perfectly.
The corn maze and pumpkin patch is an outreach to those who love Camp Fontanelle and to those who are unfamiliar with the camp but wanted to find an outdoor activity in the fall. Opening for the first time in 2007, Tens of thousands of guest have visited Camp Fontanelle in the fall, looking for the punches in the maze, or searching for treats being handed out by volunteers in the maze.
We invite you to visit us this fall. Money that is spent at the corn maze, during our Second Season, goes towards the ministry at Camp Fontanelle. Pricing has been purposely set to be affordable for families. BUT…there are donation boxes set up in key areas of the property for guests to make additional contributions that go towards the ministry. Pricing for a day full of fun is $10.00 for ages 12 and older, $8.00 for ages 3-11 and ages 2 & under are free. New this year, laser tag is included in your entrance fee and offers unlimited games in the maze. Bring additional money to purchase a zipline pass, come yummy concession stand food, or purchase a pumpkin to take home.
Did you know that reservations can be made during the week for groups, schools, daycares, churches, etc…? That’s right, you can come out with your Boy Scout/Girl Scout troop, your UM Youth Group or your business. You just need to phone or email the camp to reserve your date and the activities in which you want to participate. Phone Jane @ 402-478-4296 or 402-278-0526 or email her at jvanhorn@greatplainsumc.org. Please have a couple of dates in mind, to check availability.
The Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is in need of volunteers to help out during our Second Season. It takes a lot of people to make things run smoothly during the fall. Part of having lower costs, is being able to have volunteers who help make the experience of our guests welcoming. Some of the volunteer work is to watch the Jumping Pillows, or walk through the corn maze, answering questions, or making sure our corn is not being damaged. We also need help at our zipline and at the Petting Barn. It is a great volunteer opportunity for your church, youth group, or service organization. Please consider what you can do to help. We have a “Sign Up Genius” link on our website. Click HERE to be taken to the page. Sign up for as many days as you are able. We appreciate your help in this as we navigate this season with one less full time employee.
Look for additional posts to learn about the special events that will be happening during our corn maze season.
